About York Gift Hampers

York Gift Hampers is the creation of John and Josie Atkinson, owners of Atkinson’s Delicatessen. A specialist retailer that provides the finest quality produce from all corners of the world to Yorkshire. The business has been built around years of experience, knowledge and heritage and we are very proud to show all of our customers a little piece of Yorkshire history. The grocers business was incredibly successful and soon the shop had specialised on luxury goods, such as fine teas
and coffees, British and World cheeses, cooked and raw meats, fine wines and spirits, chocolates. Soon we were recognised as specialists having the finest quality foods in the region whilst still maintaining the authenticity of a traditional shop.

The original building, that houses the present day business was built in 1780, and begun its life as a brewery. In 1886 it was converted into a grocers and provisions merchant by George Todd, he built the business and it continued to thrive throughout the century.

Even to this day the shop still retains many of the original fittings, beamed ceilings and characteristics of days gone by. The shop counters and shelving are still maintained in parts of the shop today.

From this history the hamper business has been built, and we now have approximately 20 years of hamper making experience, and have seen products change over the years. We now have dedicated staff solely focussed on the hamper business and concentrate on both consumer hampers and business hampers.



Today at York Gift Hampers

Today the business is still family run, with John & Josie responsible for the design and procurement of goods with daughter Emily Wilson responsible for Sales and Production and their son Matt responsible for Business Technology and New Business Development. The whole business is responsible for the upgrading of quality products and services to ensure that our customers benefit for the service you expect. We have now had our website for 4 years now and as a result of all these factors have been recognised by The Yorkshire Evening Press Business Excellence Awards for our innovation and IT improvements. Long may it continue!

As you have seen from our wide selection of superb hampers, we back this up with award winning performance in all our day to day activities. Atkinsons' have been official stockists of Taylors teas and coffees for 27 years, in this time John and Josie have become experts in this field and are delighted to pass on their expert knowledge to all our valued customers. As well as our vast recognition in the world of Teas and coffees, Atkinsons' are also famed for their fine selection ofquality chocolates. In the shop, they have a wide selection of quality chocolates from some of the finest suppliers in the world e.g. Bendicks of Mayfair, Lindt of Switzerland, Lindor of Switzerland.  Here we see Josie Atkinson receiving one of her many awards for here recognized service to Lindt of Switzerland.
